After viewing this video I feel very enlightened and this I have learned a lot regarding African American problems through athletics. I by no means realized the amount of discrimination and prejudice that they faced, nor did I realize the variety challenges that they faced.

From Plug Johnson all the way through to Hank Aaron the discrimination and threats that African American sportsmen faced was disheartening to put it lightly. Before observing this video I never realized that Jack Johnson faced the hazards or that his battles caused a lot of his individual race to become mobbed and rioted therefore. Even when this individual beat the most American Jeffries he had simply no respect, inspite of being one of the finest boxers in history African American or not. The possible lack of support by white America was astonishing and privately, I always thought that all they would just cheer around the best athlete regardless. Fast foreword to Jesse Owens in the Duessseldorf Olympics therefore you wouldn't be aware that African American sports athletes were not well supported. Jesse Owens relatively had the complete nation backing up him yet when he got back the philosophy still lingered and almost ruined him. The biggest barrier for Africa Americans to overcome was without a doubt the prejudice. America had a set of beliefs centered around the white-colored man becoming superior in all things.
